Games Done Quick is an organization that runs a series of charity events via speedrunning competitions. In the past nine years of its history, Games Done Quick has worked with many large charitable organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The last event hosted by Games Done Quick was Awesome Games Done Quick 2021, which ran in January, featuring games such as Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Beat Saber.

GDQ’s all-women speedrunning event Flame Fatales will return this summer, running from August 15 to August 21. Game submissions open up on May 18, and many expect to see 2021 platformers such as Little Nightmares 2 make the schedule. The schedule itself will release on July 15, and on the same day, volunteers can register for Flame Fatales.

Flame Fatales held its last event in fall 2020 where it raised over $80,000 for the Malala Fund, a non-profit organization that supports girls’ education. The charity for this year’s event hasn’t been announced yet, but fans can expect it to be another organization or fund tied to supporting women.

But before Flame Fatales, GDQ will host the return of Summer Games Done Quick with an online event. Last year, like many other gaming events, SGDQ was moved online due to COVID-19, but that didn’t stop gamers from participating in the massive charity event. Shortly, the schedule for SGDQ 2021 will release on May 17, and might feature some new 2021 platformers such as It Takes Two.
