According to multiple reports, Giordano’s contract comes with an annual average of $6.75 million for a total value of $40.5 million. He is entering the final year of a five-year deal that earns him more than $4 million against the salary cap.

Giordano posted a career-high 48 points in 61 games last season before suffering a torn biceps tendon on Feb. 25 and being sidelined for the remainder of the year after undergoing surgery.
Giordano, 31, has played his entire NHL career with Calgary after joining the club as an undrafted free agent in 2004, tallying 66 goals and 179 assists for 245 points in addition to 466 penalty minutes in 510 games. Last season, he was named to the NHL All-Star Game and lead all NHL defensemen in scoring with 11 goals, 37 assists for 48 points in 61 games before being injured. He was also a finalist to win the Norris Trophy and the NHL’s Foundation Player Award.
