The highway sign on 836 near the exit to Northwest 27th Avenue had flashing messages of “Arrest Fauci,” “COVID-19 was a hoax,” and “vaccines kill” on display for drivers early Tuesday morning.

NBC 6 reported that by mid-morning, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority officials were aware of the sign and had turned it off.

Newsweek reached out to the Miami Department of Transportation for comment but has yet to receive a response.

The hacking of the digital sign comes just a week after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Dr. Anthony Fauci’s ousting, publicly telling reporters at the U.S. Capitol that Fauci “very much controlled our lives for the past year.”

Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, became the face of the COVID-19 response in the last year, which has thrown him into an unwitting spotlight.

As of June 15, Greene’s “Fire Fauci” act had 10 co-sponsors, all Republicans from the House of Representatives.

At the beginning of June, dozens of Fauci’s emails were published because of a Freedom of Information Act request from The Washington Post. Since then, nonstop claims calling for Fauci’s removal have been called.

One email even pointed to the idea the COVID-19 virus could have been created in the Wuhan lab, sparking the theory once again.

Former President Donald Trump said in a statement a few weeks ago, “Now everyone, even the so-called ’enemy,’ are beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from the Wuhan Lab. The correspondence between Dr. Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore.”

Fauci said in an interview with CNN a few weeks prior, “that email was from a person to me saying ’thank you’ for whatever it is he thought I said, and I said that I think the most likely origin is a jumping of species. I still do think it is, at the same time as I’m keeping an open mind that it might be a lab leak.”

And a bit more recently, Fauci has been under fire again after Tenessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn called him out for writing a book during the pandemic “while Americans suffered.”

And the flashing sign on the Florida highway saying “vaccines kill” comes at a time of President Joe Biden’s push to have 70 percent of American adults at least partially vaccinated from COVID-19 ahead of the July 4 holiday, a goal which is predicted to be narrowly missed.
