Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has added another silly episode to his Florida resume since moving to the state not even one year ago. During a flotilla parade Wednesday to celebrate the team’s recent Super Bowl LV victory, Brady was caught on video walking wobbly once leaving his vessel—with a friend holding him up as he made his way through a crowd.
This was after he was caught on video tossing the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another across the waters of the Hillsborough River in Tampa. The boat parade was the city’s way to celebrate last Sunday’s 31-9 victory over Kansas City, all while maintaining some kind of social distancing.
The trophy toss caught the eye of Twitter. The post-flotilla stagger built more admiration for Brady, even those fans who despise him for winning so many Super Bowl titles in his career.
Brady was signed by the Buccaneers last offseason, and the former New England Patriots quarterback immediately began making headlines in southern Florida. There was the time he walked into the wrong house while looking for the home of Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich
Then there was the time he was working out in a Tampa park last April. Parks were closed at the time to help slow the spread of COVID-19, and the city’s parks personnel stopped him to ask him to leave. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor later apologized.
The Sunshine State is known for memes and stories about some its citizens often referred to as “Florida Man.” These come from a long line of bizarre acts and hijinx pulled by both men and women in the state. Maybe there’s something in the water down there.
To be fair, Brady’s minor acts of foul play don’t really equate him to the Florida Man memes that became so popular over the years. However, his latest acts on Wednesday have more people talking about the new Florida native. His wobbly weave off the boat doesn’t have people asking what’s in the water, but what was in Brady’s cup?
Brady, himself retweeted the video of him walking off the boat, saying, “Noting to see her…just litTle avoCado tequila.”
Fans chimed in throughout Wednesday to applaud Brady. The 43-year-old quarterback who has won seven Super Bowls—including five MVPs in the big game—is known for taking care of his body exceptionally well. He’s known for having a very strict diet and consuming a boatload of water every day.
The videos of Brady that surfaced from Wednesday have people thinking that the quarterback is actually human. They feel relatable to the best quarterback in history.
